Adedoyin Cautions Govt Against Reopening Schools Religious Centres

Adedoyin Cautions Govt Against Reopening Schools Religious Centres

Renowned educationist and the Chancellor and proprietor of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Ife North Local Government, His Royal Eminence, Dr. AbdulRahaman Adegoke Adedoyin has cautioned the government against the reopening of schools, churches, mosques and other like gatherings until a permanent solution has been found to the problem of COVID-19.
Dr. Adedoyin who was reacting to calls by numerous calls by Nigerians on the government to lift the ban on schools and religious gatherings noted that reopening schools and religious gatherings without having found a cure or vaccine for the Coronavirus would be like the country sitting on a keg of gun powder and may have serious implication on the citizens whose lives the government should protect.
According to him, even with the shutting down of the schools and religious centers, the figures being released daily by the National Centre for Disease Control indicated that the number of infected persons are on the rise with the highest number of daily discovered cases recorded last Saturday
Dr. Adedoyin noted that there are certain posers to be answered by teachers, school owners, parents as well as those at the helms of affairs before the thought of opening schools could emanate.
According to him, teachers should ask themselves if they are ready to unnecessarily put themselves at risk in their daily interactions with students while teaching and even while marking scripts without any risk allowance or compensation to their families in case they die from contracting Covid-19 from work even as their families are also in the danger of contracting d virus from them.
He also raised some challenges likely to be faced by school owners, if schools were to be reopened as being clamored for. These include: what approaches would be adopted, if it was discovered that a student shows COVID-19 symptoms during learning, are they to quarantine the teachers, the whole class, or the whole school? How often should the temperature of teachers and students be tested? How easy will it be to test the whole school before lessons? Are the teaching and learning going to continue if the school runs out of sanitizer? And if the teacher is in self-quarantine, who will take his/her course load?
Dr. Adedoyin noted that parents should also, be faced with the fear that the children could bring the dreaded COVID-19 home from school and should, therefore, consider if education is of higher priority to them than their children’s lives
He also noted that responsible authorities should also consider if all schools have enough facilities like classrooms, desks, hostel accommodation, beds, and beddings to effectively maintain social distancing in all schools and whether they are ready to employ more teachers since the teacher to pupil ratio will decrease.
He reminded the government that COVID-19 is spread by air and contact which is inevitable if the government decides to reopen educational and religious institutions adding that while the people continued to pray and hope for the best, the government should focus its attention on research  aimed at finding either a cure or a vaccine to end the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. AbdulRahaman Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin
Renowned Educationist and Chancellor of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Ife North Local Government, His Royal Eminence, Dr. AbdulRahaman Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin has urged the Federal government to encourage Nigeria scientists and researchers to explore the use of local traditional herbs in the treatment of the dreaded COVID-19 (Coronavirus) which is spreading through the country like wildfire.
Dr. Adedoyin made the appeal while fielding questions from newsmen at his Maye's  Castle of Peace  in Ile-Ife.
Speaking against the backdrop of claims by some Nigerians living abroad that some local herbs and recipes could actually be used to combat and treat the stubborn disease, the Ife born Prince noted that before the advent of orthodox medicine, our forefathers used traditional herbs to treat different ailments and diseases successfully. "This particular one looks like "lukuluku" and was curtailed then. I have heard a number of our people claimed they used things like "ori" sheerbutter, garlic, lemons, palm oil etc to cure the corona virus," Adedoyin reiterated.
He advised the Nigerian government to look inwards and try to find internal and homegrown solution to the disease rather than wait for solutions from the western world which may not come anytime soon.
Dr. Adedoyin
He made reference to some African countries like Madagascar which recently launched a drug which the country claimed can prevent and cure patients suffering from COVID-19 as a result of research by the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research. "I am setting up a research institute inside Oduduwa University  immediately and has earmarked $50,000 for this purpose alone"
According to him, Madagascar was able to look inwards and conduct researches making use of local materials to proffer a solution to virus pandemic to the applause of the whole world.
He advocated that research be conducted into the properties of such local herbs and recipes like Garlic, Ginger, Tumeric, Shea Butter, Bitter Kola among others which many people are claiming can be used in combatting the coronavirus pandemic.

Covid-19: Adedoyin doles out N10 million to people in Ife and Environs …. Wife distributes rice, beans, other food products.

Dr. AbdulRahman Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin
Maye of Yoruba land, His Royal Eminence,
In a bid to assist the underprivileged and the vulnerable people during this period of Covid-19 pandemic, distinguished business guru and Maye of Yoruba land, His Royal Eminence, Dr. AbdulRahman Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin has doled out a sum of 10 million naira to be given out as palliatives to the inhabitants of Ife and the neighbouring communities even as his wife, Chief (Mrs.) Iyabode Olufunmilayo Adedoyin is also set to distribute rice, beans and other food products to  the vulnerable people in the community.
Chief (Mrs.) Adedoyin
A release by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Maye Group, Mr. Damilola Fadare stated that this gesture by the great philanthropist and his wife is to alleviate the suffering of the people of the community especially during this period of government imposed lockdown occasioned by the outbreak of novel corona virus pandemic.
The release directed interested members of the public to send their bank account details to GSM No: 08056565656 for a cash gift of between 2,500 and 10,000 naira.
The statement recalled that even before the current lockdown and outbreak of the corona virus pandemic, Adedoyin had always given out cash and material gifts to assist the underprivileged made up of the sick, widows, orphans and disabled every last Friday of the month.

Meanwhile, a cross-section of Nigerians have criticised the way and manner people have been giving monetary donations to the government noting that most of those who made such announcements will not redeem their pledges and even when they do, the money donated may not reach the people they are meant for as the money may end up in the pocket of politicians.

While some of the critics advocated that such individuals and corporate organisation give out such palliatives directly to individuals in forms of free electricity from the electricity companies, recharge cards and free data from telecommunication companies, and distribution of cash gifts and food directly to poor people, others recommended that the best way to support the government was for these people and bodies to donate medical equipments like nose masks, ventilators and other facilities which are in short supply.
