Dr. AbdulRahman Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin
Maye of Yoruba land, His Royal Eminence,
In a bid to assist the underprivileged and the vulnerable people during this period of Covid-19 pandemic, distinguished business guru and Maye of Yoruba land, His Royal Eminence, Dr. AbdulRahman Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin has doled out a sum of 10 million naira to be given out as palliatives to the inhabitants of Ife and the neighbouring communities even as his wife, Chief (Mrs.) Iyabode Olufunmilayo Adedoyin is also set to distribute rice, beans and other food products to  the vulnerable people in the community.
Chief (Mrs.) Adedoyin
A release by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Maye Group, Mr. Damilola Fadare stated that this gesture by the great philanthropist and his wife is to alleviate the suffering of the people of the community especially during this period of government imposed lockdown occasioned by the outbreak of novel corona virus pandemic.
The release directed interested members of the public to send their bank account details to GSM No: 08056565656 for a cash gift of between 2,500 and 10,000 naira.
The statement recalled that even before the current lockdown and outbreak of the corona virus pandemic, Adedoyin had always given out cash and material gifts to assist the underprivileged made up of the sick, widows, orphans and disabled every last Friday of the month.

Meanwhile, a cross-section of Nigerians have criticised the way and manner people have been giving monetary donations to the government noting that most of those who made such announcements will not redeem their pledges and even when they do, the money donated may not reach the people they are meant for as the money may end up in the pocket of politicians.

While some of the critics advocated that such individuals and corporate organisation give out such palliatives directly to individuals in forms of free electricity from the electricity companies, recharge cards and free data from telecommunication companies, and distribution of cash gifts and food directly to poor people, others recommended that the best way to support the government was for these people and bodies to donate medical equipments like nose masks, ventilators and other facilities which are in short supply.
