If You Don’t Recognise the Police, You Will Be Forced to Recognise Hoodlums and Thugs - Adedoyin

The Maye of Yoruba land and the founder and Chancellor of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu-Ife North Local Government, His Royal Eminence, Dr. Abdulrahaman Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin has emphasised the importance of the police in the maintenance of peace and security in the society.

Dr. Adedoyin made this observation while playing host to Osun State new Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode at his Maye Castle of Peace residence in Ife.

While declaring his love for the police work, the Maye declared that if “you don’t reckon with the police you will be forced to reckon with hoodlums and thugs.”

He recalled how he started as an home lesson teacher and the blessings of God he has enjoyed over the years to sense of fulfillment he now feel as the founder of five tertiary institutions viz: Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Our Savior’s University of America, Unique Citizens University (College) Accra-Ghana, The Polytechnic, Ile-Ife and Oduduwa Polytechnic, Lagos.

Adedoyin used the occasion to announce a N2 million scholarship award to an officer of the Nigeria Police of the Commissioner’s choosing to study a degree course at Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu

Earlier in his speech, the new Commissioner of Police while acknowledging several assistance Adedoyin had rendered to the Ife Division of the Nigeria Police and Osun Command as a whole, described the police job as a noble profession.

He noted that his posting to Osun State is like a homecoming as he once served as the Area Commander for Ife Zone in 2016 but spent only 3 months as he had to be redeployed as a result of his promotion to an Assistant Commissioner of Police.

The CP promised to put in his best to ensure that crime is reduced to the barest minimum describing Osun State as relatively peaceful when compared to other neighboring states.

He congratulated the Maye on his many successes and achievements and prayed that God continues to strengthen him to do more.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairperson, Board of Trustees of Oduduwa University and the Yeyemaye of Yoruba land, Chief (Mrs) Iyabode Adedoyin emphasised the need for all to continue to pray for leaders at all levels.

While praying that the new Commissioner of Police achieves successes in his new job and even further, the Yeyemaye advised that the officer of the Nigeria Police exercise a lot of restraints in the course of their duties especially when dealing with youths.

The Chairman of Ife Central West Council, Barrister Bisi Oladosu, who accompanied the new Commissioner of Police along with his Ife Central counterpart, Mr Eluyera Elugbaju, in his own speech described Dr Adedoyin as a pride to all Ife people in view of his numerous achievements especially in the area of education.

He recalled that Olawale Olokode made great impact in Ife Zone during his 3-month stint in 2016 as the Area Commander and the people are delighted to have him back this time as the new State Commissioner of Police.

The new state Commissioner of Police was accompanied on his visit to the Maye Castle of Peace by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Charge of the Mobile Police, the Area Commander, Ife Zone, Bode Akinbamilowo, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, and all the Divisional Police Officers in Ife Zone among other officers.

On hand to receive them were the Vice Chancellor, Oduduwa University, Prof. Benjamin Aribisala; the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Adeline Adeyemi, the Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies, Prof M.K.O Alimi as well as the members of the Maye in Council.

 Celebrating Maye @64


It was indeed another start of the year birthday celebration of the Chancellor and Founder of Oduduwa University, His Royal Eminence, Dr Abdulrahman Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin, the Maye of Yorubaland to usher in 2021 with the celebration of his 64th birthday in grand style.

The celebration began with prayers offered by Pastors for the celebrant and his family at The Chapel Of Blessings Evangelical Ministries International at his Royal Castle of Peace residence, Eleyele , Ile ife in appreciation of the faithfulness of God in his life, businesses  and family.

Prayers were also offered by Alfas and Imams for Dr Adedoyin at Maye’s mosque, also inside his residence, was coordinated by Sheik Al Muhammad Ibn Yaya, Chief Imam of The Polytechnic, Ile-Ife and Alhaji Adebayo, the Chief Imam of Oduduwa University, with Professor Muib Opeloye  who quoted verses from the Holy Quran to pray for the celebrant and his entire family.
 

Dr Adedoyin, who could best be described as Nigeria’s foremost educationist, philantropist, trend setter, business guru and the voice of the voiceless. A man passionate about philantropy and giving helping hand to the needy, using this year’s event, as always, to give back and spread joy by putting smiles on the faces of the sick and the aged.

As his custom and usual way of celebrating his birthday, the celebration progressed seemlessly without any hitch to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife (OAUTHC) and Nigeria Prisons, Koseere, also in the suburb of Ile-Ife where he gave out cash donations to off-set medical bills of in-patient for their various treatments and cash donations for prison inmates respectively. He also visited Elderly homes, widows etc

Many aged citizens in large numbers, who had earlier thronged the premises of  Oduduwa University Engineering Campus, Mayfair were also not left out, as they smiled home with cash donations and gifts.

The climax of this 64th birthday celebration hit a higher ground as the reception moved to Hilton Hotel, Royal ,Mayfair Ile-Ife where dignitaries were entertained.

With the opening prayers offered by Bishop Omotoye of The United Church of Cherubim and Seraphim Worldwide (UCC&S) Ife Diocese, it was thereafter, testimony galore for the goodness of God in the life of Dr Adedoyin as given by Primate Adereti of UCC&S, Alhaji (Prince) Rilwan Adedoyin, the celebrant’s son and Professor Victor Adetiloye, Chief Medical Director OAUTHC.

The icing on the cake at the reception was the presentation of awards to His Royal Eminence, Dr Adedoyin, with the conferment of “Hero of Our Time And Ambassador of Youths”, as well as the official decoration/Investiture as Grand Patron by Western Youths Development Forum.

The International Institute For Leadership Studies And Project Management also awarded him “Lifetime Millenium Achievement Award In Community Service, Philantropy And Education Development.


This particular award, according to the Institute, is premised on Dr Adedoyin’s sole effort as the first and only Nigerian that has five tertiary institutions viz Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu,Nigeria, Our Saviors University , Virginia USA, Unique Citizens University College, Accra, Ghana.The Polytechnic, ile ife, Nigeria, Oduduwa Polytechnic , Idimu, Lagos have achieved so much in the field of of educational development, by establishing higher Institutions across USA, West Africa (Nigeria, Ghana.

The profile and citation of the achievements of celebrant was read by Olufemi Mebude of Mass Communication Department, Oduduwa University, who was also the Master of Ceremony. Ajisafe Akewi also gave an Ewi rendition to honour the celebrant, with melodious songs from the duo of Alade Jesu and Tecno-Rocky at the bandstand.

Dr Adedoyin and his wife, Chief (Mrs) Iyabo Oluwafunmilayo Adedoyin, Yeye-Maye of Yorubaland were joined by his closest and dearest family members, who were full of cheers throughout the occasion, to cut the birthday cake.

Present at the celebration to rejoice with the Maye of Yorubaland were his children, Princess (Dr) Adeline Adeyemi, Princess (Dr) Adewunmi Adedoyin, Princess Deyosola Olayinka, Alhaji (Prince) Rilwan Adedoyin, Prince Raheem Adelani Adedoyin; as well as their spouses, Mr Kayode Adeyemi and Mr Kenny Olayinka (Kenny Peters).

Other dignitaries are Sooko Adeyoju Aratunde, Sooko (Dr) Kemade Elugbaju, Hon. Justice S.A Oke, Professor Benjamin Aribisala,Vice Chancellor of Oduduwa University, Professor Victor Adetiloye, Chief Medical Director, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital's Complex, Professor MKO Alimi, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Mr Dotun Awoyemi, former Registrar, Obafemi Awolowo University,Dr Isaac Adeyinka Chief Medical Director, Alafiatayo Adeyinka Medical , Center, Ile ife and Comrade (Dr) B.O Ifonedo. Senior Special Assistant to the Founder of Oduduwa University.

Also in attendance were Most (Rev) Dr Ebenezer Durojaye Adereti, Overseer Anthony Olayinka Jesutowo, Rt Rev Omotoye, United Cherubim Church of God Pastor Ijaodola (ANCOPSS President, Osun State Chapter), Mr and Mrs Ade Alayo, Chief Gbadeyanka Muftau Adewale (Mogaji Ibadanland), Comrade Oyedele, Pastor Alake, Pastor Babatunde Omotayo, all members of Maye in Council and many more.

The vote of thanks was offered by the celebrants daughter and Registrar Oduduwa University, Princess (Dr) Adeline Adeyemi, while the event was brought to an end with closing prayers from Prophet (Dr) Tosin Odeyemi.

Maye Hosts Cherubim and Seraphim Leaders, Becomes Grand Patron of TUCC&S

It was a gathering of “who is who” in the Cherubim and Seraphim Church as the Primate and Archbishop of the United Church of Cherubim and Seraphim-TUCC&S, His Spiritual Eminence, Most Revd. (Dr) Ebenezer Durojaiye Adereti led the top echelons of the church on an episcopal visit to the Maye of Yoruba land, His Royal Eminence, Dr AbdulRahaman Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin at his Maye Castle of Peace, Ile-Ife.

Revealing the purpose of their visit, the Deputy Archbishop of TUCC&S and the Bishop of Edo Diocese, Right Revd Oniwaya extolled the many virtues, qualities and astounding records and successes which made the Maye stand out and made the Council of Bishops of the TUCC&S to appoint him as the Grand Patron of the Church.

He expressed optimism that with his appointment as the Grand Patron, the Maye will use his resources and influence to move the Church to the next level especially in the areas of evangelism, organisation of crusades and camp ground.

Earlier in his speech the Primate and Archbishop of the United Church of Cherubim and Seraphim-TUCC&S, His Spiritual Eminence, Most Revd. (Dr) Ebenezer Durojaiye Adereti disclosed that the position of the Grand Patron had been vacant for some time even before he became the primate and it had been his desire that such a position should be given to an Ife son.

He expressed his gladness that when he nominated Dr Adedoyin, both the Council and all the people who were contacted to pray about it accepted him.

In his acceptance speech, the Maye of Yoruba land, His Royal Eminence, Dr AbdulRahaman Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin emphasised the importance of giving, using different experiences he had with the late Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Okunade Sijuwade from whom he learnt the art and act of philanthropy.

While thanking the entire Council for counting him worthy of the position of the Grand Patron, Adedoyin, who is a Muslim narrated his experience of how Christians and Muslims were leaving and worshipping together in peace when he and his wife, who is a Christian and founder of a church, visited Jerusalem on a pilgrimage and wondered why Nigerians could not also practice the same religious tolerance


He used the occasion to announce a yearly 2 million naira scholarship award to any qualified applicant selected by the church to study at Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Ife North Local Government as well as the award of honourary doctorate degree from Our Saviors’ University to a member of the Church.

Also in her remark, the Yeye Maye and wife of Dr Adedoyin, Chief (Mrs.) Olufunmilayo Iyabode Adedoyin gave thanks to God and noted “we owe everything in life to God.” She also expressed her appreciation to TUCC&S for bestowing such an honour on her husband.
